Catamarca Lithium Project,
Argentina
Latin Resources has accumulated the largest hard rock spodumene landholding in Argentina, totalling over 70,000 hectares.
Latin Resources has accumulated the largest hard rock spodumene landholding in Argentina, totalling over 70,000 hectares.
The Catamarca Project contains numerous swarms of spodumene pegmatites that have not been fully explored.
Two areas, Vilisman and Ancasti, each with past lithium mining activity, together host in excess of twenty Lithium bearing pegmatite deposits documented by various authors in publications made over the last 50 years.
Combined estimates of spodumene content within 15m of surface of 12 of these deposits are in excess of 120,000 t (Acosta et al 1988, Balmaceda & Kaniefsy 1982 and other non-JORC foreign publications).
These lithium bearing pegmatite deposits have a history of small scale past production, having been intermittently exploited for Lithium minerals, and associated Beryl, Tantalum and feldspars during the 1950’s and 1970’s.
Latin is planning an extended campaign of field work in 2023 which will include detailed and systematic geological mapping and follow-up geochemical surface sampling to better understand the nature and scale of the high-grade lithium pegmatite system encountered in previous drilling completed by the Company in 2017.
Drilling in 2017 at North West Alto returned intercepts including:
- 3m @ 2.98% Li2O
- 5.2m @ 1.62% Li2O
- 6m @ 2.40% Li2O
- 7m @ 2.17% Li2O
Latin currently has a joint venture agreement on the Catamarca Lithium Project with the Argentinian investment group Integra Lithium.
The Company has a campaign of community engagement underway with information relating to the recommencement of planned exploration activities. This includes a plan to establish a network of liaison offices within the local communities to assist in the dissemination of the exploration information, and act as a conduit for feedback for the various community stakeholders.
